"This is not merely my personal opinion; this is a perfectly obvious fact, available to anyone of intelligence, sensitivity, and integrity: The Dawn Horse Testament is the most ecstatic, most profound, most complete, most radical, and most comprehensive single spiritual text ever to be penned and confessed by the Human Transcendental Spirit. The days of denial are over; this nonsense of neglect cannot continue, with any rational reason. I ask my friends, my students, my readers, even my casual acquaintances, to see and recognize and--above all--confess the Realization that Master Da is.

I do not understand why so many thousands of people--who have heartily expressed to me the opinion that my own written works express great clarity, judgment, and understanding--balk and look in disbelief when I speak ecstatically of the Heart Master Da. It is as if my friends believe everything I say except that Master Da is a genuine Adept, Free at the Heart, Confessed in Radiance, Transcendent to it all. How has my judgment suddenly lapsed in regard to this Man? I am as certain of this Man as I am of anything I have written--in fact, as certain as I am of my own hand (which apparently claps by itself in solitude when it comes to this Great Issue). So I make only one request: if you do only one thing to test my judgment in this matter, please read this Dawn Horse Testament cover to cover (and I mean cover to cover), an then I will be glad to argue with you if you still wish--but not before. And, I think, we will then see who the Master of the Heart really is. Is that not fair? Read this Man, Listen to this Man, Hear this Man, then See Him. And then, I think, you will stand Smiling. What else do you really want? What else can I say?"

Meditate on the nature of your awareness at this very moment. You believe in a word designated time called past, while no such state of time has ever been observed and simply does not exist. You consider the past to be as real as a ring on your finger. I say to you that if there were such a thing as past you could at the very least retrieve the past, or show the past to someone, or return to the past, or photograph the past, or record the past in this very moment of now. Yet many of your actions, reactions, and plans are based upon an imagined state of time; no more real or available to you in this very moment of now, than in any other apparent moment that you have been witness to.

You are, and remain, the immutable, formless, and timeless witness of everything that arises in consciousness. If this were not so, where is the past moment? Where is the future moment? Is it not true that this apparent moment of now arises constantly, while considerations of past, and future actions and reactions are continually sliding off the plate of awareness? You Are the witness in consciousness, dreaming the world of the self, magically conjuring dreams of past, present, and future reality, while unknowingly and Truly remaining ever and always in the eternally present Now. There is no ‘out there’ beyond consciousness. If this is not so, then tell me, where is your ‘past’ of just ten years ago, ten months ago, ten days ago, or even ten minutes ago? For your amusement consider the legend of Narada.

Forget all that you have learned from parents, teachers, friends, society, and meditate to the point of radical seeing. Undo your entrainment in the teachings of the world and liberate your Being from within. In all my life, I have never encountered a book like this. Avatar Adi Da Samraj's esoteric writings about the Guru-devotee relationship will touch and move you at heart. They will make you aware of the possibility that you can actually awaken to and be the very Divine Self of Infinite, Immortal Light. And that awakening, as the book explains, is not achieved by effort, but is Grace-Given, in the context of the love relationship with the Divine Guru. Just imagine the God-intoxicated devotees of Jesus, the Buddha, and Krishna, and the intimate, loving relationship they shared with one other. Just so, you can have this same relationship with the Divine Heart-Master, Bhagavan Adi Da Samraj, who has descended from the God-Realm out of overwhelming love and the desire to liberate everyone from suffering and awaken all to Himself. In my search for spiritual life I happened upon the teaching of Avatar Adi Da Samraj. I can see now that it was not an accidental happening, but an inevitable one. The first book by Avatar Adi Da that I ever studied was the Da Love-Ananda Gita.

Da Love-Ananda Gita is a gift of perfect wisdom. Its expression is direct and complete, and if you allow yourself to be immersed in it, a simplicity is revealed that will break your heart. How to live a life of Grace. That is what I always wanted, and I hardly dared to believe I was being given this secret so freely.

The book is really a love affair. It is the love between my heart and the Divine, exquisitely described and evoked. As Avatar Adi Da concludes the final essay, "What is a Greater Message than this?" --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

In one essay in this book, Adi Da says, "You cannot merely read my Wisdom-Teaching and 'get it'". He is right. I found that these writings were addressing some part of me far deeper than the thinking mind or even the emotional being. Throughout the book, he describes and recommends a process of "melting down" which I found overwhelmingly attractive at the deepest level. Carrying out the instructions in the book has re-arranged my orientation to life and my place in it. I feel more real, more balanced, more sane than ever before.

The essays and talks in Hridaya Rosary are sophisticated. When I tried to grapple with them mentally I just became frustrated. When I was able to relax the mind, then the words somehow enforced themselves at a primal point in me, at the heart. In these moments the wisdom of the book became intuitively clear and I felt a profound relief. At these times, it was obvious that the way things really are, Reality (with a capital R), is much different from what I ordinarily assume.

I believe this is the most efficacious instruction I have ever read.

In Eleutherios, Adi Da Samraj reveals that the feeling of being a separate self is the root-cause of suffering individually and collectively. He reveals that this feeling is an activity we are generating at the core of our being. He also says that this activity can be gone beyond by communing with the egoless personal presence of truth and perfect happiness, which he freely states is his constant, conscious condition, moment to moment. He claims that this condition is who he is. I am struck not only by the penetrating clarity of Adi Da's teaching in Eleutherios, but by the fact that reading it gracefully reflected to me the ways in which I generate my own feelings of separateness and the ways I dramatize them. In one of the last essays in the book he calls the leaders of the world to examine themselves in the light of his teachings in the areas of social, political, and economic activities so that we might begin to grow beyond our terrible separative, egoic and collectively destructive tendencies.
